Work Positioning Devices also called Rope/ Pulley Blocks are used traditionally when operators are working in suspension, i.e. when being lowered and working in a work positioning safety harness or within other devices such as Bosuns Chairs.
These devices come in two main types – braked and un-braked. Traditionally on a 3:1 pulley system but also available on a 5:1 system from a specific manufacturer the ISC – ALF/R device.
Probably the most popular device available is the Sala RPD (Rope Positioning Device), but products are also available from other manufacturers including; Protecta, IKAR and Ridgegear.
